How Pusaka Murni came to be
Pusaka Murni was founded in Melaka after its founding partners observed, over many years of legal practice, that families coming through estate matters often felt lost — not for lack of documentation, but for lack of a clear, human explanation of what was happening and what came next.
The name reflects that intention. Pusaka — inheritance, legacy, what is passed from one generation to the next — and Murni — pure, genuine, without pretence. Together, they describe what this practice was built to be: a place where inheritance matters are handled with complete honesty and quiet dedication.
We opened our office on Jalan Hang Jebat in the heart of old Melaka, a street that itself carries history. It seemed fitting. Families who walk through our door are, in their own way, tending to history — the affairs of people they loved, the things those people left behind.

Inheritance law in Malaysia — what families need to know
Estate administration in Malaysia follows different legal frameworks depending on the religion and circumstances of the deceased. For non-Muslims, the Distribution Act 1958 and the Probate and Administration Act 1959 generally apply. For Muslims, Islamic inheritance law — including the concept of faraid — governs the distribution of the estate, with the Amanah Raya Berhad or a court-appointed administrator sometimes involved.
Many families find themselves unclear on which route applies to them, or on how to begin the process of applying for a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration. These documents are often required before banks, the land registry, and other institutions will release or transfer assets to the rightful heirs.
